SSENSE and a Kenzo obsession

These are some things that I am loving right now.  All items are from one of my favorite web shops SSENSE. I am obsessed with KENZO. The shapes are interesting, the material is soft and comfortable and the prices are not crazy. A lot of it is on sale too.

The chairs

My chairs arrived from Overstock and after calling them to proclaim that they had no legs I found the legs zipped underneath the base of the chair. The legs were found and the chairs were quickly assembled. They look great for the price and I think they will work great to fit more people around my table.

What to buy at Barney's, what to buy for less...

Clients often ask me what they should splurge on and what they should save on. There are some items that you need to spend money on and there are others that you can buy at the Gap, Zara, Forever 21, Urban Outfitters, Old Navy, ect. I recently brought a client a few pairs of Old Navy Rockstar jeans to try and she LOVED them and they looked great. Saving enables us to splurge on the things that really define our style and our wardrobes.

Here are some examples of things to SAVE on. Really.

Women's Vintage-Style V-Neck Tees
Old Navy vintage T-shirts ($9.50 plus 30% off, practically free)

Gap Minna Soda wash T-shirt ($16.99 plus 30%)

These t-shirts look great under cashmere sweaters, beautiful blazers, leather moto-jackets.  No need to spend $50 or more on James Perse. Put that money toward some of the items to come on the splurge list!
C Wonder bangle
This gorgeous bracelet looks like Hermes with the right ensemble. It comes with black, red, or orange horses too!

Zara Skull print scarf

This scarf makes everything look more current. It looks like McQueen for a fraction.

Things to splurge on: Basically beautiful things that matter. Classic gorgeous bag, beautifully flattering dress, shoes that are well made and versatile, unique and interesting jackets and blazers, simple jewelry, double-ply cashmere in interesting shapes, ect. p.s. After holiday sales are the best time to stock up on investment items. Great sales to be had!

More chairs please!

In my dining room I have a beautiful Ethan Allen table and chairs.  I realized that I need more than 6 chairs and so I decided to mix in some upholstered chairs.  I did not want to spend a lot on the chairs because eventually I will upholster them in something gorgeous. These chairs are a great price and look much, much more expensive. Here is my dining room now:

Here are the chairs and some ideas for recovering:

Marseille Beige Linen Nailhead Dining Chairs (Set of 2)
Marseille Beige-Linen Nailhead dining chairs set of 2 Overstock

I think I will have a skirt added as well.  Here is the shape of the possible skirt:

Here is the fabric that is on the seats of my other chairs:

Waverly Hidden Treasure Fabric

I want these chairs to be a neutral that looks nice with all the other fabrics I have going on in my house. Here are the other fabrics:
Schumacher Jaipur Tree fabric

Schumacher Trellis navy Fabric

Thaibaut Marathon Navy fabric

What I want is a soft, beautiful fabric to cover these two chairs and put them in the center of the table opposite each other. I think I will take out the nail tacks and do piping--I think it will be cleaner. The low-quality linen they come in will have to go too. I am thinking of perhaps a supple velvet or a thick good quality linen.  TBD.

An option:

 New Indigo Blue Irish Linen

Favorite new classic dress

I bought this dress by L'Agence at Nordstrom yesterday.  It was the last one, my size and on sale!  I wore it to two parties last night. Here is the dress and how I wore it:
